Chesstivus: Introducing Winter Chess for the Rest of Us♟️

This year we’re marking July with a cold open for the biggest, most festive chess festival in this town’s history — welcome to Chesstivus.

In the grand tradition of the Acid Chess Club, our largest ever CHILL and HECTIC tournaments will be held with 64 players each going head to head for a night full of feats of strength (over-the-board chaos), Chesstivus miracles (Triple Muzio Gambits), and the odd airing of grievances — blundered queens and missing mates.

Up for grabs are major prizes from IRVINE, Runner Up, Future Days Wine, TOPIA, When Pigs Fly, Still Life Club, SPASTA, Stomping Ground, Sucker Store, Cinema Nova and more. Merch, drinks, tickets and vouchers are all on offer for our winners, runners-up and third place-getters.

As always, entry is free to enjoy the live music and watch the tournaments. Now at an expanded venue in Collingwood Yards, this is the one to bring your crew to — a celebration of culture, competition, ritual, and community, with a special artist lineup supported by Leaps and Bounds Festival, City of Yarra and PBS.
