The Gem and Leaps and Bounds Festival present. The Maggie Pills and The Stripp.

Two of the most exciting femme-fronted bands in Melbourne come together on the one show for this not-to-be-missed free show at The Gem on Thursday 13 July as part of Leaps and Bounds Festival.

Led by Argentinian front woman Delfi Sorondo and Venezuelan drummer Mario Perez, The Maggie Pills have exploded onto the local Melbourne live music scene with their reimagined punk sounds and lyrics formed from their diverse experiences and cultural backgrounds.

Fronted by Bek Taylor, The Stripp have developed a strong following due to their savage style and high-energy live shows, with their album 'Ain't No Crime To Rock'n'roll' getting rave reviews.

The Maggie Pills

Led by Argentinian front woman Delfi Sorondo and Venezuelan drummer Mario Perez, The Maggie Pills reimagines punk through an emotionally visceral lens, jam-packed with impish latin percussions, razor-sharp guitars, fuzzy bass lines, unhinged synths and gestural vocals that feel playful, pop and iconic. The result is an impressive self-produced act that masters the intersections between intuitive and intentional, grunge and pop, gothic and colourful.

Their lyrics are stories, speaking to universal truths we all connect to. These truths are enriched by and spoken from diverse experiences and cultural backgrounds. Their live shows are ferocious and their DIY ethos is solid.

The Stripp

THE STRIPP are a high-energy, turbo-charged, rock‘n’roll machine.

Fronted by Bek Taylor, best described as the love child of Joan Jett and Lemmy Kilmister, the band’s savage style and captivating live shows has gained them a reputation as one of Australia's finest, high-energy rock n roll bands.
