Music Victoria will once again host the Leaps and Bounds Industry Day at Music Market in Collingwood Yards.

The event will be an opportunity for City of Yarra venues and their teams to network and learn about the current developments within the Victorian music industry.

The day includes sessions presented by VMDO, The Archie Roach Foundation, Arts Access Victoria and Green Music Australia.

Issues and Trends in Victorian Music presented by Music Victoria and VMDO

Music Victoria CEO Simone Schinkel and Victorian Music Development Office Manager (VMDO) AJ Li will deliver a presentation on research generated from Music Victoria’s 2023 Victorian Live Music Census and the VMDO’s Investigation into the Victorian Music Industry, as well as provide an overview of their 2022-2023 projects.

First Peoples Music Programming presented by Songlines and Archie Roach Foundation

Local First Nations musicians Kiwat Kennell and Candice Lorrae (The Merindas) also representing The Archie Roach Foundation, will be in conversation to discuss the importance of prioritising First Nations people not only on lineups, but also when it comes to decision-making at higher levels within the music industry.

State of Access discussion

Consultant Morwenna Collett will be sharing the findings from Accessible Music Venues project, supported by the City of Yarra, City of Melbourne and Music Victoria. Morwenna (Morwenna Collett Consulting) will then lead a conversation on tips and advice for improving accessible practices with disability advocates Siobhan McGinnity (Clinical Audiologist, Musician), Eliza Hull (Musician) and Irene Zhong.

Sound Country and Green Action Program presented by Green Music Australia

Will Ewing (Brunswick Ballroom) and musician Jess Ribeiro will be sharing the insights from their time as a participants of Green Music Australia’s programs. Joining them will be musician, writer and activist Matt Wicking who co-authored Sound Country: A Green Artist Guide, a resource available to the music industry covering achievable green initiatives.
