Introducing… Kent St Talkin’: a full day, full venue, full volume party showcasing some of Naarm’s best-emerging queer, femme and BIPOC electronic artists and DJs, alongside artists that emerged a little while ago and, if you ask us, are doing very well for themselves.

Merging the old with the new, if Kent St wasn’t a bar it would be that share-house with the house parties you seem to always find yourself at, despite not knowing anyone on the month-to-month lease that has somehow been ticking on for the good side of 10 years now. There’s at least one cupboard which after many a stint of being rented out as a “small” bedroom, now finds itself filled with the ghosts of housemates’ past that they’re still definitely going to pick up when they’re back from Europe. It’s a home away from home, and it probably couldn’t get its bond back if it tried.

On Sunday July 16th Kent St is opening its doors for a full day of music, with DJs downstairs playing an eclectic mix of house, disco, RNB and more as the day turns to night, and live acts in the upstairs function space from 4ish. Like any good house party it’s free, and thanks to our mates at Stomping Ground and Burnley Brewing you don’t even have to risk stashing your beers in a communal fridge behind some wilted celery and a tupperware tub containing what could only be described as ‘proto-penicillin.’

Kent St is talkin’ so you better be listening.
