Free event. No tickets required.

The Rivers Sing: Reprise begins 10 minutes before sunset.

We recommend arriving 20-30 minutes before sunset for the best experience.

Hear the water swirl and flow. Its currents chanting all around you. The rivers are singing now, in the last light of the day. Head to this ancient meeting place on the river’s banks at sunset and hear a song for the stories yet to come.

Over 10 days in July The Rivers Sing returns to the Birrarung. The layered voices of singers, projected out along the banks in this large-scale sonic artwork composed by acclaimed opera singer Deborah Cheetham AO, with artists Thomas Supple and Byron J. Scullin.  Echoing across the ever flowing waters up over the grounds of the Abbotsford convent and the Collingwood Children’s farm into the suburbs beyond.

The Rivers Sing will take place as a public performance at Sunset from Friday 8th to Sunday 17th July. A resounding reprise of its original journey along the waterway during the depths of the Melbourne lockdowns.

The Rivers Sing: Reprise is supported by On the Road Again, a Victorian Government initiative to bring live music back across the state.

The Rivers Sing is originally commissioned by RISING.
